I have a older model - the PRO-1000. Is there a User Guide |
I am controlling Limitimer from a Creston touch panel. I want to do set up two ASL4-ND3 clock displays. So I need those plus the PRO-2000X plus the TP-2000X?
I can just configure the two displays in a star configuration off of the
PRO-2000x?
Thanks,
That's correct. The TP-2000X is a dongle that translates Limitimer's RS422 data stream to an ASCII serial connect to the Crestron. The set of codes we provide are embedded into the control elements on the Crestron machine. All external signal lights must be connected to the timer either daisy-chained or in a star configuration.

WHAT IS THE CABLE DISTANCE LIMITATION BETWEEEN THE PSL-20V AND THE AV-2000? |
You can probably go about 350-feet using a Cat-5 cable - somewhat less with XLR.
The problem is the voltage drop that is experienced because of the wire resistance over a long run. However, it is possible to use our accessory PB-6, a power distribution box that boosts the power on the signal light end and extends the sparation distance between the timer and the signal light.
for the pro 1000 limit timer, how many pins are used on the eby cable. Is it easy to convert to using cat 5. Can you supply the pin out config? Thanks,
We use 4 pins (all except the brown wire) (See http://www.dsan.com/ProjAcc/Cables.asp - bottom of page)
Important! Make sure you make the EBY-Cat5 adapter connections precisely the same on both ends of your Cat-5 cable. Use a voltmeter to test.
Note: Do not mix the AV-1000 timers with the newer signal lights of the AV-2000 systems. Unless you want to see smoke. |
Is it possible to switch on/off the light of ASL4 manually? More: do you sell a stand for ASL4 in order to put it standing on the floor? Thank you |
No. This is controlled by the timer. The ASL4 has a bracket in the back that allows it to sit approximately 45 degrees facing the viewer.
We have a Limitimer that does not work properly. Is there a repair office in Atlanta, GA? I'm not sure of the make/model, but it's an electroc issue not a hardware problem. Thanks |

What equipment is necessary in order to use an AMX touch screen. Do you need a pro/av 2000 box, too, or just a TP-4100X and PSL 20V? What about the PC version--do you still need a Limitimer 2000 box, or just the podium light and necessary cabling? |
You need the PRO-2000 box to produce the time data. The TP-2000X just converts that data from RS422 to RS232 so that it can get to the touch panel interface. When you purchase the TP-2000X, we send you the control codes to talk with the AMX equipment. The PSL-20V is useful if you want to display the time to a speaker.
At this time, we are not selling the Limitimer PC - as it uses a different data transmittion protocol.

You still need the timer – PRO-2000. The TP-4100X is merely an adapter that translates the RS-422 data stream (timings and keystroke commands) to and from the touch panel RS-232 interface. Any signal lights would be connected to the Limitimer timer.
At this time, the TP-4100X does not connect the touch panel to the PC-Limitemer since the PC-Limiitmer uses a different protocol.
We have a TCP adapter that allows a Limitimer to be controlled by a PC over a network. This could be combined with the TP-4100X to allow a PC with a touch-sensitive screen to control Limitimer.

Is there any Spec manuals on the D'San AV1000 unit? I have an "Expert" who has "Been-doing-this-for-30-years" telling me that a standard GYR stoplight like unit from an Analog unit will work with the AV1000 |
Some AV-1000 were made with a special powered connector that could drive any 12-volt Green-Yellow-Red external signal lights. We still have a few of those units (restored models @ $200). Please contact us if you need this.
We are having problems with our D'San Limitimer's lights working intermittently. We believe we need to replace the 5 pin connecting cord. We need a 20' cord. Do you sell replacement parts or can you direct us to someone who can? |
Sorry for the long response delay. We assume you have the older Limitimer - Model AV-1000 or PRO-1000. These use EBY remote control cables. We still sell those. You can find them at

I have a # PRO-2000 Timer w/ Wireless Transmitter and a # ASL4-ND3 Audience Signal Light. When I turn off the power to the PRO-2000 the ASL4-ND3 automatically becomes a clock and displays the time of day. I noticed it is already set to the correct time of day (EST). Is there any adjustment settings for daylight savings and standard time or is this done automatically? |
Well if you do nothing, you'll find out pretty soon. Actually, the answer is "No. The clock is not that smart. You'll have to make the time-change fix yourself.
How can I adjust a Limitimer AV 1000 to stop counting UP when it hits red (stop). I would like it to stop at zero. Is this possible? Thanks... |
We are able to modify the signal light with your AV-1000 to stop at zero. This is a hardware modification and, unlike the current Limitimer models, is not optionally turned on or off.
A fast one here, I have Model #ss-10h, have had it now for about 20 years. This there away to redo it to a wireless unit?
Thank you |
It's time to buy a new Limitimer. The SS-10H is at least 15 years old. Sorry, our wireless modules only work with the new Limitimers. Alternative, you might want to take a look at our Timeprompts - our battery-powered speaker timer. A wireless version allows you to connect two Timeprompts wirelessly.
We are wanting to purchase a speaker timer for our regular meetings
To be controlled by the meeting chairman - if we purchase the TP200RF, do we need to purchase any other equipment ?
Is there a portable remote for chairman to activate instead of PC |
You need to purchase two TimePrompts - TP-2000RF. One acts as a receiver the other acts as the transmitter. A small switch allows one TimePrompt to act as either a transmitter or receiver. The transmitter TimePrompt completely controls the receiver TimePrompt. The only thing the speaker can do - presuming he is audacious enough - is to turn his TimePrompt off.
We note that you have posted this message on the Limitimer User Forum. The Limitimer wireless model works differently. The main timer broadcasts its time data to a received that must be plugged into power. The remote signal light then plugs into the receiver.

Hello, I see that a curent FAQ is about using Creston or AMX to crontol a limiter. What is the status of that question? I thought I'd check since your website says copyright 2005!
Thanks |
You can now control Limitimer with Crestron or AMX touch panels. All you need is our TP-4100X Cat-5 DB9 dongle and the ASCII control codes. These are now available.
Is it possible for a technician to remotely control the timer during a presentation, starting the timer when the speaker begins to talk? |
In fact the technician (or the meeting chairman) is the one who is supposed control the timer. Only the signal light is meant to go in front of the speaker.
It is possible to connect two timers to one signal light. Either can start / stop or make settings.

hi I got an D'San AV-1000 and the small remote module dosnt count at all anymore it just display 0:00 |
Is this the AV-1000 or the AV-2000 ? If it's the AV-1000, it sounds like one of the data lines in the connecting cable couldn't have frayed or become broken. Rarely, it is the jack itself. Please check the cables and if the problem still happens, let us know and we'll take a look at your unit.

Dear Sirs,
I could be interested in one of your products (speaker timer). I would be grateful if you could send me the name and contacts of one of your resellers in Italy, to whom I could ask for information.
I look forward for a prompt reply.
Many thanks.
We don't have a dealer yet in Italy. However, we ship directly to customers world wide. In case of problems (very very rare) we will simply ship you a new timer and ask you to return yours.
Are any of your products controllable via Crestron or AMX control systems. We would like to use an existing touch panel to function as the Pro2000 limit timer. |
You can now control Limitimer with Crestron or AMX touch panels. All you need is our TP-4100X Cat-5 — DB9 dongle and the ASCII control codes. These are now available.

I need to make a REX to XLR or RJ-45 adaptor cable for the ASL4-ND3. What will the pinout be? |
do you have an image of psl-20vf, and i suppose it's possible to buy and used the psl-20v only, on pondium to time the presentator without av-2000 or pro-2000?. also your price are in us dollars, and do you have a special price for av rental company? thank-you jean cote delta sound & lighting ltd. quebec/canada |
The PSL-20V and PSL20VF are merely displays - allbeit intelligent displays that receive data and power from the Limitimer timer. They cannot work by themselves.
Click here for a picture of the PSL-20VF.
We offer a price discount to companies buying our products for resale or to those making quantity purchases. |
How do you set the clock on the ASL4-ND3? |
Tom:
There are two red push buttons on the front left side of this unit. In the clock mode, simply press to select the time needed. The unit has a battery backup and will keep track of the time even after it is turned off.

My signal lights are flickering on and off. The time displays clearly. |
Robyn:
The flickering lights are an indication of insufficient power.
Please describe your set-up in detail.

Can I change the beep or blink setting to be more than a second between beep/blink? I'm looking to have it a longer period of time vs 1 second. We just installed this timer and I'm sure the
user will ask.
No. This is a property of the embedded software. However, for a small programming fee, we would be happy to customize the beep interval, or the property of any other function.
Is there any distance restrictions on how long a CAT5 cable can be between the PRO2000 and the podium indicator? |
No.
WE HAVE AN AV 1000 AND i WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THE SMALL COUNTER THAT GOES ON THE PODIUM, IS THIS SUPPOSSED TO START COUNTING BACK UP AFTER SPEAKER ENDS? |
The small counter (Part PSL20V - Podium Signal Light) has 10 DIP switches on its bottom. Switch 5 is set to ON. In this mode, the count-down clock will start counting "Up" after it reaches zero. Set the switch to "Off" to make the clock stop at zero.
What is the difference between the AV2000 and the PRO2000? |
The timer functions are identical. The PRO2000 sits in a deep case in order to accomodate an XLR jack. The remote signal light that is supplied with the PRO2000 is fitted with a pigtail XLR plug on a 10-foot cord. Signal light-timer connection can be made with either XLR or CAT5 cable. The PRO2000 also has an EBY jack so that it may drive D'San's older large Audience Signal Lights. The AV2000 sits in a slim case and, like the signal light contains twin, RJ45 jacks. Connection between the signal light and the AV2000, however, may also be made via XLR cable by using D'San XLR-Cat5 adapters (See Limitimer Accessories, Part KES881 and KES882)
I don't want the beep to be automatic. Can I sound the beep manually? |
Yes. Hold the Beep button for approximately one second. Lift when the beep sounds. Make sure the Beep LED did not become illuminated. This means that you have engaged the auto beep. If it did become illuminated, press the beep button and release quickly.
You may continue to hold the Beep button and beep will sound every 2 seconds until you release it. |
The timer buttons are not responding? |
Check the DIP siwtches in the back. Switch 1 MUST be in the ON position (Up) unless the timer is connected to another timer for dual control operation.
What are the correct settings to use separate signal lights for an "A" and "B" podium? |
To keep track of time remaining for each speaker, use two programs and enable each signal light to receive only one program.
For example, set podium "A" as enabled to receive Program 1 only (Switch 1 ON, Switches 2,3,4 OFF). Set podium "B" as enabled to receive Program 2 only (Switches 1,3,4 OFF, Switch 2 ON).
On the timer, Set the times for Program 1 and for Program 2. Only one program can run at
a time. If program 3 or 4 is selected, the podium signal lights will still only display the program(s) for which they are enabled. |
How can I change the beep sound? |
The beep sound is selectable for each signal light and each timer. Make the following changes on the 10-position DIP switch to produce the desired sound:
Switch 7 |
Switch 8 |
Sound |
ON |
ON |
Buzz |
OFF |
ON |
Chime |
ON |
OFF |
Ring |
OFF |
OFF |
No sound* |
*Use this setting to produce no sound. For example, set OFF-OFF on the timer if you do NOT want a sound. Use one of the sound settings for the remote signal light. Then, press the "Beep" button. The sound will only be heard on the remote signal light. If the timer is in the same room as the signal light, we recommend that the sound be set to "No Sound" on the timer. | |
